Help with uni work - articles on music Empty Help with uni work - articles on music

Helloooo!

I was wondering if you guys would help me out a bit, please.

I am at uni studying Journalism, and this semester, one of my modules is to create a 8-page newspaper. Obviously, I need to fill it with stories, and I'd quite like to have a big music section in it. And I was wondering if you could help me out with this.

I am already in the middle of arranging an interview with a band to write a piece on them. I was also thinking of doing a piece on the Diner's BOTB - if I can make it. I'm not too sure how I'll be doing this yet; I'd quite like to cover all the rounds, but money and travel is an issue, plus this is one newspaper that will be handed in in May, so time is also a bit of an issue. But yeah, I am hoping to at least do something on the first round of BOTB, so if any of the bands playing would mind helping me out with that, I'd be greatful. At the mo, I think it would just be asking a few questions.

Other things.. if any bands have anything new happening, or have some sort of news, that I could write a piece on, I'd be really glad if you could let me know. I may not be able to have everything I'm told about in my newspaper as I have to have a range of stories, but the more option the have, the better.

Also, this is just a piece of work, so it's not like anyone other than teacher's will really read it, but I will probably try to send some of it to newspapers/magazines local to Kent to get myself some by-lines. It's not definate that I'll be accepted, but there is a chance a piece on you could end up published.

Also, story after story, presentation wise, would look a bit boring, so I'd like to include "adverts" of some kind. If any bands have online flyers with a list of upcoming gigs they wouldn't mind me using as an advert, I'd be really greatful. OR if you know of anything else I could have as an advert, all suggestions are welcome! But time wise, I can't be designing the advert myself.

Fans of bands - would you be willing to give your opinion on various bands if asked? Just as extra quotes to fill out a story. For instance, if you don't mind being spoken to, and you're going to BOTB round 1, please let me know, and I could include you in that piece. Any other areas you think you could help me with, please let me know!

Finally - and this is not about music - I'm thinking of doing a kind of "letters" page. You know how sometimes people write in with their thoughts on specific issues and the like. If you have an opinion on something, and wouldn't mind writing a few lines about it, please do so.

One final request; when you reply to this to help with a specific subject, i.e. adverts.. if you could put that as the subject I would be greatful, as it'll be easier for me to see at a glance which posts can help me with what.

I'll shut up now. Thanks to anyone who helps, it's greatly appreciated!! Very Happy

Hi Jo,

I am pretty sure the Kent Gig Guide who are on here and also http://www.myspace.com/kentgigguide will be covering the BOTB and this might be able to help you along.
You can happily use any of the flyers on the DTD site Jo and interview of course

cheers

I've got a question.
Why does the button you click to send a private message say "MP"?
And not PM?

Well that's just stupid.
Who says "Send me a message private!"
Unless they're in the army and they're saying "Send me a message, private!"

Oh, that's cool. I could probably use you as a vox pop if you don't mind? Meaning if I write an article on something, I'll have a seperate section with people's views on the subject. If I was writing something about abortion, for example, I could ask you what your views are on it. Would you be ok with that? I would ask you at a later date though, as I don't know what subject I'll need vox pops for.
