Theatre
Just wondering if anyone else enjoyed a good trip to the theatre or spent any time working in theatre. Got any good play recomendations or seen anything really great lately.
Slightly inspired to create the topic due to the face i'm sitting behind a lighting desk currently having completed most of the rigging for the school play, just with a freind focusing and me messing around with faders.

Re: Theatre
I haven't been to the theatre in a bloody long while. I used to go fairly often when I studied GCSE and A-level Drama though.
It's a bit old, but The Woman In Black was amazing. Scared the crap out of me, and none of us thought theatre would be good enough to be scary. I actually had nightmares, lol. I think it's still running?
I'm a bit behind on what's still on and what's not. Stones in his Pockets was really good too! Err... The Mouse Trap... I'm having trouble remembering the big plays we watched, as most were pretty small, and won't be running now.
Is Starlight Express still going? That was amazing, I'd love to see that again. Ohh my memory is failing me.
I'm off to see Wicked in a few weeks. Got tickets for my mum for Christmas. Well looking forward to it!

Re: Theatre
I have seen just about every show at the Theatre, I am an avid fan of musicals and plays. I am actually going to see 'Rent' tomorrow, for the 3rd time in about 6 years, just love the music from it.
Re: Theatre
haha, Jo, woman In Black is still running, I went to see it about 6 months ago, and it was terrifying, the most incredible piece of drama.
Cant say I have seen the others, however i do plan to see wicked, after lighting it, and playing drums for it, and also people from the uni i want to go to are working on it. Thats made me think, i may just book my tickets this weekend.
As for other productions, if you have a look on the internet, anything by PunchDrunk or Complicite are awesome shows, incredible pieces of theatre, I've seen a show by each and have been blown away each time.

Re: Theatre
Saw Wicked today!!! It is absolutely amazing! Musical actors/actresses blow me away! Amazes me how they can hold such high notes for so long! Was suuuuch a good show! I even had a bit of a cry at one point. It's soo lovely! I highly recommend it to everyone.
I really need to go to the theatre more often! I do miss it!

Re: Theatre
I didn't say I would arrange it! I think it would be better if you saw a surgeon. So you don't die and stuff.
Re: Theatre
ah, but that costs money... ker-ching... and i owe someone all my wedge for a lawsuit involving video footage
Re: Theatre
ive seen a fair few.
the best... we will rock you. at the front
lord of the rings. 3 rows from the front.
and we will rock you the second time
ive seen women in black i was right at the front (in the marlowe) but was sitting level with the stage so you can see when she walks on and it wasnt that scary

Re: Theatre
i despise queen and i hate lord of the fucking rings... so those wouldn't be so good for me
Re: Theatre
Queen aren't too bad.. but I don't think I could handle the musical. LOTR the films were amazing, but I don't think that's a story that should be put to music.
I was quite near the back for The Woman In Black... I was crapping myself!

Re: Theatre
queen really are that bad... just like the monarch really.... and i made myself read lord of the rings once as someone told me it was valid literature... it wasn't.... it was bloody boring!
Re: Theatre
what...like... that woman over there is breathing funny... she looks like a fucking dyson with a wig on.... or... this cheese sandwich is deceptively uncheesy... it lures you into a false sense of security with it's gargantuan wedge of yellow prettiness then kicks you in the balls with it's lack of taste....
