Performing at Downtown Diner Sun 12th Oct
Doors 6.45pm, Age 14+, £5
There has always been something exhilaratingly different about Reading band theCOLOURS. Amidst the usual crop of identikit guitar indie, rock and metal bands, their crisp melodic keyboard and synth pop wraps you in a euphoric blanket of epic anthems.
Previous support slots with buzz bands The Wombats, Dan le sac Vs Sroobius Pip, Boy Kill Boy, The Noisettes, Zoot Woman, Infadels and Blackbud on tour shows and festivals surely emphasises the band’s caliber; and this has been recoginised by Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman selecting the band’s track “Sinking Ships” to soundtrack her personal website www.edithbowman.com.
National support has also come from Huw Stephens Radio 1 and The Fly Magazine, as well as respected Club Fandango London indie label Fierce Panda. Transatlantic applause for the band has been building, with Radio KEDJ playlisting “Fallen Soldiers” and naming it record of the week.
The band are currently recording demos this summer as they look to record their debut album with Chris Brown (Radiohead, Muse, The Beatles Anthology), and undertake a UK tour from mid September.
“Superior to most signed acts out there.” John Earls, Channel 4, Planet Sound
“This month’s Band Most Likely to Sell Five Trillion CDs ... Emotive, anthemic indie rock with an almost military sense of purpose” Oxford’s Nighshift Music Magazine
“Hot on the heals of the surging pop brilliance of their debut EP Aurora Borealis, SOMETHING NEW is a track so crammed with hooks and riffs it sounds like it might explode at any moment like some spectacular musical firework.” Linda Serck, BBC Introducing
“I found an absolutely amazing band from Reading called The Colours. We've already got everyone in the office humming along to their cool tunes” Sugar (Teen mag)
