Procrastination Empty Procrastination

Post  Ilch Mon Jan 21, 2008 12:52 pm

This is mainly aimed at the students amoungst you guys. But is anyone else carefully practising ( or have ever ) the art of the revision procrastination. There are several ways of doing it:-
1. Pretending you know what your talking about to teachers and other pupils, leaving your brain to think you know what your doing and there is no need to revise.
2. Distractions. A bit like I am now, a forum, or game on the internet gets the better of you and you end up not working at all.
3. The "more constructive thing to do". This one is great, the best of the three. You pretend you are doing somthing far more constructive than revision with your time. For example my thought process is generally like this, "I play drums, I'm in a band, it therefore makes sense that I play drums now instead of revising, this would then increase my bands chances of playing and doing well in the future, which is more constructive than revising".

So just wondering if anyone else does or thinks the same at all??

p.s. This whole message was done while procrastinating geog revision for my exam on friday!

haha, good to see there are likeminded people on here. I think it is an artform that should be practised by all students. Anyway its common knowledge that if we all do badly the grade boundries are lowered, lets make the most of it!!!

I know what you mean. I am at boarding school, an i have left all my work in a mates room, who has since gone home and locked it in. So thats me up shi*t creek without a paddle as to regarding my geog practise paper and theatre studies coursework for tomorrow. Saying that I cant really complain, i do no work and my predicted grades are nice and high.

Alex mate, you are a legend in your own rite, what with that and reciting JHS lyrics on the forums. You are a true man.

But we do have a great deal in common. Maybe I should start organising gigs.

Distraction was the main when back when I was at college/school. In terms of doing other things rather than assignments. I tend to leave everything to the last minute, I work well under pressure. It's more laziness than anything though.

Blagging is amazing! I some how managed to talk my way in and out of anything during school. And with exams, if I really didn't have a clue then I'd just write a how load of crap that sounded intelligent even if it didn't have much relevance to the question. It worked enough to pass my A Levels lol.

Haha, Alex i'm liking this seporated at birth theory, not only are we different ages, and drastically different heights, but there could be some substance to it.

As for organising gigs, your on!!!

JHS had a practise on saturday at mine and we sounded the best we probly ever had so be ready for some tuneage at the gigs.

Haha, You should feel good. I dont think any gig you have organised has been in any way a disaster for JHS, as you have probly gathered we seem to have a blast most of the time!

I think we should start getting a few more gigs in the next few months as we are really branching out and looking for more promoters, were hopeing to break out of the Ashford and Tenterden scene, jumping headfirst at London and then a few more gigs possibly in the south west and further north!
